The Work Programme

It’s all in the name – in a nutshell, Work Programme is all about getting you into work. It’s also about supporting you once you find a job so you have the best chance of long-term success.

Recent changes to the benefit system mean that you’ll always be better off in work, and it’s our job to help you get there and stay there. Work Programme is part of the Government’s plan to simplify the welfare system by bringing together initiatives such as Flexible New Deal, Pathways and New Deal for Disabled People. Now, there’s just one, a new Work Programme for all.

A4e delivers Work Programme on behalf of Jobcentre Plus and Department for Work and Pensions.

What’s involved?

Everyone’s journey back to work is different. If you’ve been out of a job for a while, the prospect of returning to work might be a little scary whether you just need a little bit of help with your CV or job search approach or have more substantial barriers to overcome.

We’ve been helping people get back into work for more than 20 years, and we understand the issues people face, like:

  • A health condition or disability that you feel stops you from working
  • Drug or alcohol problems
  • Caring for children or a relative
  • A criminal record
  • Depression/mental illness
  • Lack of confidence

We’ll work with you to overcome these barriers by developing a personalised plan and supporting you as you go through it.

We are here to:

  • Help you find a job and keep it
  • Get you the help and support you need from other organisations
  • Help you gain new skills to reach your full potential
  • Make it as easy as possible for you to use our services
  • Support you for the long term. We’re in this together for up to two years

Who can take part?

Different people can join the programme at different times according to the benefits or allowances they receive, but everyone needs to be referred by Jobcentre Plus. So if you’re interested talk to your Jobcentre Plus advisor and they will be able to help you.
