A4e asks the Experts

Employment, skills and training
What’s the best way forward for the UK?
It’s a big question and not something that can be answered by one business all by itself.
In tackling multiple issues that can effect the long term unemployed, A4e knows that the only true way to deliver lasting success is to work with the employers, governing bodies, charities and third sector organisations who can mutually offer a whole wealth of experience.
That way we can deliver a practical working model that can ensure that those looking for employment are placed into sustainable and beneficial careers that work towards growing the UK’s economy.
With this in mind we questioned key Government representatives, leading Third Sector and Charity Partner organisations and top UK Employers we work with around the topic of employment, skills and training.
We wanted insight into what needs to be focused on within the UK and what providers like ourselves need to bring to tackle unemployment and help build skills. We wanted to hear the key things that needed to be done to ensure that the country begins to establish an environment that pulls people out of poverty and delivers real opportunities to those who are economically deprived.
From Matthew Nicholas, Director of Employers and Stakeholders for Job Centre Plus to Regional Resourcing Manager for Royal Mail Joe Connor the videos here give a real look at practical solutions and ideas for taking Britain’s workforce forward.

Hi Matou,
Thanks for your comment. At A4e we arrange for customers with gaps in their work experience to take part in Work Boosts which we help set up with Employers. This means they get the opportunity to build up their CV.
There is a very good website called Do It which will show you all the voluntary work available in your area which is also another good way to build your skills and experience. This is the link to the site.

I am a long term unemployed. Every time I apply for the job, the experience is always required. Unfortunately for me I never worked in this Country since May 2009 when I have been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain. I am in UK for 8 years. I am writing to you to get help about finding job in order to support myself and my family.
Kind regards
Matou Lubaki
