What we do
Twenty years ago, A4e lifted people out of poverty in Sheffield by helping ex steel workers re train and find jobs in the new, emerging service industry.
Since then, A4e has supported over 1 million people to improve their lives by providing a myriad of training, advice and support services. A4e is now a 3300 strong global organisation and a market leader in public service reform.
Why have we expanded our service offering? Employment is indeed the best route out of poverty, but for many, employment is a distant hope when people face a complex web of interlinked and interrelated challenges. It is not enough to work in isolation and address just one aspect of the ‘poverty web’. Instead, we work with governments to develop services that tackle different but related causes of poverty.
Our work focuses on the following key areas:
- Tackling worklessness
- Skills and Training
- Education and Enterprise
- Local government
- Advice and guidance
- Health
- Reducing Re-offending
